Lowes Outdoor Lighting Fixtures

Outside light fixtures can be important for safety. Visitors to your home, as well as you and your family, need to see the ways and entrances to move safely and comfortably in the dark. Outdoor lighting can also be a deterrent to theft, as it places potential thieves in view of their neighbors. If you currently have outdoor lighting, but would like to replace it with a more contemporary fixture, the process is simple. The wiring is already underway, so all you have to do is remove the old lamp and put in a new one.

Turn off the circuit breaker that powers your outdoor lamp. It is not safe to work on the electrical wiring only with the light off on the switch. Make sure everyone who has access to the switch panel knows that you are working on lighting.  Unscrew the screws or nuts that hold the accessory to the wall. These may be on the outside light fixtures, or you may have to remove a globe or shadow to access them. Some accessories hide the heads of the screws with the decorative pins or use nuts with decorative coatings.

Pull the accessory from the wall. If it has been painted and sealed around the wall by the paint, you may have to lever the wall with a flat head screwdriver. Loosen the cable nuts that secure the appliance cables to the house wires. Open your new luminaries and assemble it as the manufacturer gives instructions. Most accessories have a metal mounting plate that attaches to the electrical box on the wall. Remove the mounting plate of the old lamp if it is a different size or style than the new one, and install the new one with the screws supplied with the outside light fixtures.
